Lace "Argyle" pattern

One of my kind commenters requested a stitch pattern for the "Lace Twist-Stitch Argyle Pattern" (please, for the love of Pete, think of a better name). Please feel free to let me know whether the instructions on how to accomplish the exotic twists and twist-decreases are followable, if you ever get the urge to try this pattern out.

Because of the symbols I use for twisted and other stitches, the number of graph squares rarely corresponds to the number of loops you will have on the needles. I like using only one square for the symbol of twist stitches, since to me it shows better how the stitch columns line up in the fabric. Graphing them this way definitely made designing the fabric easier.

Also, to make the diagram look pretty and have it make more sense to me, I'll use one graph square where I put in some of the yarn overs that are decreased-away on the next right-side row. The stitch key's right column shows for all of the symbols how many stitches from the row below are used and how many stitches result on the right needle when you're done working the stitch(es) represented by each symbol.

Zemanta helped me add links & pictures to this email. It can do it for you too.
